NECTAR CORRIDOR

SuperNormal Futures Course
Parsons, The New School for Design
Spring 2008

Collaboration Team:
Matthew Bissen, Dunja Pantic
Hrolfur Cela, Carrie Mae Kreyche

The development of Urban Nectar
Corridors is to re-establish
endangered plant species, help
reduce rising carbon dioxide
levels in the atmosphere and
enhance the production of food
in urban environments. To
achieve this goal, residents of
New York City can adopt a
pollinating animal species to be
housed in their apartment or on
their rooftop - to facilitate
pollination of the new corridors.
The establishment of the nectar
corridors would introduce much
needed natural environmental
systems into our city.

TAPE MONITOR
Value Fiction Project

Major Studio
Parsons, The New School for Design
Fall 2007

Collaboration team:
Claudio Midolo
Sandhya Moraes
Carrie Mae Kreyche

Course Contraints
Observe an everyday object and design a prototype, from conception to implementation, based around this object.

After brainstorming and discussion our group observed tape and explored it's many functions and uses, real and imaginary. We decided to make a portable monitor from flexible, technologically advanced tape like materials. We chose the tape based on its functionality, portability, and collaborative possibilities.

'Tape Monitor' would need to have:
Physical material
Monitor output capability
Computing power
Configuration conscious
Touch sensitive
Cutting resolution
Self renewal/ solar power

A story, from author Martin Prechtel, about a man who records a hummingbird's song and plays it under water at a slowed down tempo and whales sing back the same song as the hummingbirds.

We deisgned concepts that would make it easier for people to recycle or reuse their t-shirts instead of throwing them away and filling up a landfill.

Making a teddy bear out of the abstract design patterns on the shirt was my favorite idea.
